Diagnostic Imaging in the Annex.

Some questions cannot be answered from the outside. The Village Vet+ Annex offers diagnostic imaging for dogs and cats in the Annex and surrounding Toronto neighbourhoods, helping Dr. Astin and our care team look more closely at bones, organs and other structures. The right test depends on what needs investigating, with preparation and next steps explained along the way.

Your questions, answered.

Why might my pet need imaging?

Imaging may help investigate pain, a limp, a suspected swallowed object or a change found during an examination. It is one part of the assessment — Dr. Astin or our care team may also need blood tests, samples or follow-up to understand the whole picture.

Do you offer X-rays and ultrasound at the Annex?

Yes. The Village Vet+ Annex offers both X-rays and ultrasound. X-rays are often useful for bones and the chest; ultrasound provides a different view of soft tissues. Call us to confirm the recommended test and its availability.

Will my pet need sedation or anaesthesia?

Some pets can be imaged awake. Others need sedation or anaesthesia to stay comfortable and still enough for useful images. The decision depends on the area being examined, positioning and your pet’s health and temperament.

How should I prepare my pet?

Ask for instructions specific to the test. Some examinations require changes to feeding or other preparation, but these are not the same for every pet. Let us know about any medications and health conditions before making any changes.

When will I get the results?

Timing depends on the study and whether a specialist needs to review it. Ask when to expect an update and who will contact you. Images do not always provide a final diagnosis, and further tests may be recommended.

How much does diagnostic imaging cost at the Annex?

The estimate depends on the type and number of images, sedation, interpretation and any additional tests. During your initial exam, our team will assess your pet’s needs and provide an accurate estimate.
