Wellness Exams.

Regular wellness visits give us time to get to know your pet, notice changes and plan ahead. From their teeth and weight to their everyday routines, a thorough checkup helps build a picture of their health. It is also your chance to ask the questions that come up between visits.

What does a wellness exam include?

A wellness visit combines a physical examination with a discussion of your pet's appetite, activity, behaviour and medical history. Your veterinarian checks for changes and discusses preventive care. Vaccines, parasite screening or other tests may be recommended separately.

How often should my pet have a checkup?

Most healthy adult pets benefit from at least an annual examination. Growing pets, seniors and pets with ongoing conditions may need more frequent visits. Your veterinarian can suggest a schedule based on your pet rather than their age alone.

Does my pet need a visit if they seem healthy?

Yes. A checkup gives you a chance to discuss small changes before they become bigger concerns. It also helps keep a useful record of your pet's weight, physical findings and preventive-care needs over time.

Are vaccinations and blood tests included?

A wellness exam includes a nose-to-tail physical examination, including a check of your pet’s teeth and gums. Vaccinations and blood work are billed separately. Depending on your pet’s needs, your veterinarian may recommend these during the visit and discuss the cost with you before proceeding.

What should I bring, and does my pet need to fast?

Bring previous records, a medication list and the names and amounts of foods, treats and supplements. Ask whether a sample or special preparation is needed. Do not withhold food or change medication unless your clinic gives you instructions.

Can we discuss diet, dental health or behaviour?

Absolutely. Write down your questions and mention your most important concern when booking. Photos or short videos of a change at home can help. A complex concern may need a separate appointment so there is enough time to address it properly.

Should I book a wellness exam if my pet is unwell?

Yes. If your pet is unwell or you’ve noticed changes in their appetite, energy, behaviour or other symptoms, book an appointment as soon as you can and let us know what you’re noticing. For a sudden or worsening concern, call the clinic. Severe distress may need immediate emergency care.
