Diagnostic Imaging.
Some questions cannot be answered from the outside. Diagnostic imaging helps your veterinarian look more closely at bones, organs and other structures, then connect those findings with your pet's examination and symptoms. The right test depends on what needs investigating, with preparation and next steps explained along the way.

Everything you need to know.
Why might my pet need imaging?
Imaging may help investigate pain, a limp, a suspected swallowed object or a change found during an examination. It is one part of the assessment: your veterinarian may also need blood tests, samples or follow-up to understand the whole picture.
Do you offer X-rays and ultrasound?
At The Village Vet+, diagnostic imaging includes X-rays and ultrasound. X-rays are often useful for bones and the chest; ultrasound provides a different view of soft tissues. Contact your chosen clinic to confirm the recommended test and its availability.
Will my pet need sedation or anaesthesia?
Some pets can be imaged awake. Others need sedation or anaesthesia to stay comfortable and still enough for useful images. The decision depends on the area being examined, positioning and your pet's health and temperament.
How should I prepare my pet?
Ask for instructions specific to the test. Some examinations require changes to feeding or other preparation, but these are not the same for every pet. Tell the clinic about medications and health conditions before making any changes.
When will I get the results?
Timing depends on the study and whether a specialist needs to review it. Ask when to expect an update and who will contact you. Images do not always provide a final diagnosis, and further tests may be recommended.
How much does diagnostic imaging cost?
The estimate depends on the type and number of images, sedation, interpretation and any additional tests. During your initial exam, our veterinarians will assess your pet’s needs and do their best to provide an accurate estimate.
